A Greek prince and his wife have welcomed their first child, born using a surrogate in the United States six years after their royal wedding.
Prince Philippos of Greece and Denmark and Princess Nina are now parents to a baby boy, born in late July. The child’s arrival was announced by the office of the Greek royal family, on Tuesday.

Prince Philippos is the youngest son of the late King Constantine II of Greece, who died in January 2023. Philippos’ mother is Queen Anne-Marie of Denmark, younger sister to Queen Margrethe II, who ruled Denmark for 52 years before abdicating in 2024 for her son, the now King Frederik X.
The couple had five children: Crown Prince Pavlos, Princess Alexia, Prince Nikolaos, Princess Theodora and Prince Philippos.
“Philippos De Grèce and his wife, Nina, are delighted to announce the birth of their first child, Kimon Thomas Konstantinos, born on July 27th, 2026 in the United States of America,” the statement read.
“Kimon was born with the help of a gestational carrier. Nina and Philippos extend their sincere gratitude to the surrogate and her family for accompanying them throughout this special journey. They also thank the medical team and key professionals for their care and support.
“Nina and Philippos are cherishing these first precious weeks together with Kimon and feel immensely happy to begin this new family chapter with their son.”
The baby boy’s name features tributes to his maternal and paternal grandfathers: Thomas, for Nina’s father and Konstantinos, for Philippos’ late father, King Constantine.
So far, no photos of the baby have been shared publicly.
Prince Philippos and his wife − an aviation heiress then known as Nina Flohr − married three times: their first was in 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic in Switzerland, with just their two father’s present.

The couple held another ceremony with friends in Cambridgeshire, in the UK, in May 2021.
Their biggest, and most high-profile, wedding took place in October 2021 when they married inside Athens Cathedral in a ceremony attended by royalty from across Europe including Denmark, Spain and Britain.
Philippos, a New York-based financial analyst, was born and raised in London. His godparents include the late Princess Diana and Prince Philip (who he was named after), Spain’s former King Juan Carlos and Denmark’s Princess Benedikte, his aunty.
His father King Constantine was the last ruler of Greece before the monarchy was abolished in 1974. Constantine lived in exile for in Rome with the rest of his family before they later settled in London.
His funeral in January 2023 was one of the largest gatherings of foreign royalty in recent years.
In December 2024, members of the defunct royal family were able to apply for Greek citizenship again, 50 years after the monarchy was abolished.

The family was stripped of its Greek citizenship in 1994 in a dispute with the government. But the situation changed when its current members signed a letter acknowledging the republican government and adopting a new surname, “De Grece” − French for “of Greece”.
Prince Philippos’ first cousin, Prince Gustav of Denmark and his wife Princess Carina, also welcomed their first child via a surrogate in 2023.
The birth was announced the Royal House of Denmark nearly one year after the long-time couple married after the law was changed allowing them to finally wed.

Prince Gustav and Princess Carina were both 54 when their first child was born in the United States. They welcomed a daughter, also born using a surrogate in the US, in 2024.
Earlier this year, Prince Gustav and Princess Carina were photographed at Graasten Palace with King Frederik and Queen Mary, spending part of the summer at the Danish royal residence as they have done in previous years.
