What if the secret to aging slower wasn’t hidden in a lab… but sitting on Greek dinner tables for thousands of years?
In this video, we reveal 20 Greek superfoods that support longevity, heart health, gut health, brain function, collagen production, and healthy aging — inspired by the traditional foods eaten in places like Ikaria, Greece, one of the world’s famous Blue Zones. From extra virgin olive oil and Greek yogurt to wild greens, lentils, figs, walnuts, pomegranates, feta cheese, garlic, oregano, and raw Greek honey, these ancient foods have been used for generations and are now being studied for their powerful anti-aging benefits.
You’ll learn how the traditional Greek diet may help reduce inflammation, protect arteries, support the microbiome, stabilize blood sugar, preserve muscle, strengthen bones, and defend the body against oxidative stress — the processes that can make the body age faster.
In this video, we cover:
Extra virgin olive oil for inflammation and heart health
Greek yogurt for probiotics, protein, and gut support
White beans, lentils, and chickpeas for Blue Zone longevity
Wild greens and horta for minerals and antioxidants
Figs, grapes, and pomegranates for polyphenols
Walnuts and almonds for brain and skin health
Tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, garlic, oregano, and barley for everyday Mediterranean nutrition
Raw Greek honey as an ancient whole-food sweetener
These are the foods Greek families have relied on for centuries — simple, traditional, whole foods that modern science continues to validate.

I am Greek, born, raised and lived my whole life in Greece, and I'm so surpised that the video is so accurate about the diet of the Greeks.
– Almost every meal of mine contains extra virgin olive oil.
– Twice a week I eat white beans or gigantes beans or lentils or chickpeas, often in the form of a soup dish, accompanied with barley rusks and olives or raw onion.
– I eat Greek yoghurt or sheep-milk yoghurt and feta cheese almost every day.
– I eat raw, unsalted walnuts and almonds and black Corinth currants about 2-3 times a week as snack.
– I eat once a week fish.
– Dried oregano is the standard herb for my salads and many dishes (lentil soup, fish or meat stake on barbecue, chicken and potatoes baked in the oven etc.).
– Pomegrenates, figs and grapes are the standard fruit of late summer and early autumn.
– Greek honey is the my standard sweetener for my breskfast.
– Wild horta is not so common part of my diet because they need to be collected and washed thoroughly (time-consuming and needs knowledge not to collect poisonous ones). Nevertheless, when my mother gives me some horta, I eat it with pleasure.
For the statistics friends' information, I have not tasted gyros sandwich with pita bread since 2003. Ok, I' m not the average Greek person but what I want to point out is that gyros sandwich, the most famous Greek dish, is just street food and very few Greek people cook it at home. It' s not at all traditional.
Finally, 3 notes for the video:
– "Greek" (strained) yoghurt was certainly a food familiar to the Greeks of the past generations, but the standart yoghurt was non-strained yoghurt made from sheep-milk.
– The word "Horta" itterally means greens. It's not the action of collecting them.
– Karydia (=walnuts) are not named after Zeus. The -dia suffix is a diminutive suffix. The original ancient Greek word was karya (meaning nuts). So, tthe word karydia used to mean "little nuts" and in modern Greek came to mean walnuts.
Great video. Keep them coming. We are team everything except oil and dairy, but I do make a soy Greek yogurt.
You haven't link the sources of this whole foods.
I recently read some research that stated the Mediterranean Diet is a misnomer because the Mediterranean includes many countries with different cuisines. The prototype for the Mediterranean Diet came from Crete , foods eaten by mainly farmers and fishermen and probably all the goods listed. The lack of UPF no doubt was a huge benefit to their health.
The Greeks the eating them two and three times a week it is the best detoxify vegetable liver kidneys urinary tract everything besides that they have a lot of vitamins and minerals
What are you talking about they never even heard about it then the dandelions and mixed ones the company called organic play used to have dandelions the green or the red ones who is the little stem to hold the leaves on like it is in Europe and what they doing now they cutting the leaves and selling them that is a no no that stem holds all the nutrients because it comes so so far away it takes about 12 days by the time you purchase it in the grocery store they put it under the water a drains of the nutrients out of the leaves this time you will hold the nutrients in it we don't understand why they doing that we are speculating they are selling the leaves only because they don't want Harvest more besides that they have the robot to to cut the leaves only and they don't care what the people eating terrible company they are only care how much they going to put in their pocket you're talking about the Wild Ones forget about it the America's they are killing them from their Garden if the new the v a l u e of the vegetable they probably wanted to multiply
To get the freshness of the vegetables and fruits you have to buy everything in season over here in the US play in June July and August cauliflower cabbage broccoli they are out of season you know and if you don't open up and ask the internet please educate yourselves 8 it is very important to eat fresh vegetables add fruits that's why you don't need vitamin supplements
People they say How stupid it is do you do not even know you forget these people over there they get fresh vegetables and fruits why don't you all fight for the government to change the system of all these Refrigeration the FDA should gets involved that's why it does not have no taste and nutrients whatever you eat in the United States unless you have your own garden
Well you only have to look at the waddling US to realize this…
