NEW YORK – On Friday, September 11, on the 25-year anniversary of the tragic 9/11 attacks, the talented musician, educator, and orchestrator Peter Douskalis performed alongside members of The Lion King cast on ABC’s Good Morning America.
Douskalis, whose work spans across Broadway, world music, academic scholarship, and intercultural collaboration, was seen performing the song ‘They Live in You’ live on the morning American television program alongside four cast members of the Broadway show.
The stripped-back version of the popular song was performed in honor of September 11, in front of an image of the skyline of New York City.

Speaking to The National Herald, Douskalis reflected on the significance of this performance and what it meant to him.
“It was an amazing honor and privilege to perform with the Lion King cast for such an occasion, Douskalis told TNH.
“Performing on September 11th, particularly this song They Live In You, was profound given the weight of the occasion and day.”
Douskalis noted that this was his second time performing on Good Morning America, following a prior appearance alongside the cast of the Broadway show ‘Water for Elephants’.
The Lion King musical, produced by Disney Theatrical Group, under the direction of Andrew Flatt and Anne Quart, first premiered on Broadway on November 13, 1997, and ever since, has had 32 global productions seen by over 130 million people all around the globe.
