Greek food, music and dancing return to Greenlawn Sept. 18-20

If the smell of souvlaki and fresh baklava drifting through Greenlawn sounds like a good way to spend a September weekend, then you are in such luck.

That’s because the St. Paraskevi Greek Fest is getting ready for its return.

The annual three-day celebration at St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Shrine Church runs Friday, Sept. 18 through Sunday, Sept. 20, bringing Greek food, music, dancing, carnival rides and plenty more back to 1 Shrine Place.

Greater Long Island stopped by opening night last year, when crowds packed the church grounds for gyros, souvlaki and homemade pastries while kids bounced between rides and games and live Greek music filled the festival tents.

Beer, wine and Greek coffee will also be available, along with vendors and live entertainment throughout the weekend.

This year’s festival runs from 4 to 11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.

St. Paraskevi Greek Fest is located at 1 Shrine Place in Greenlawn.
