According to a report by media outlet TransferFeed, Argentine midfielder Lorenzo Scipioni is considering a move away from Olympiacos in the upcoming January transfer window. It seems like the 21-year-old, who joined Thrylos in 2025, is no longer part of manager Imanol Alguacil’s plans.
TransferFeed noted in its report that the midfielder was brought on the field for a mere five minutes against an opponent from Super League Greece 2, the second tier of the Greek football pyramid. This is testament to the fact that the player is no longer a part of the manager’s plans regarding the squad. TransferFeed wrote, “It is suggested that Lorenzo Scipioni is not trusted by the Piraeus coach, after he played for five minutes in a match against an opponent from Super League 2. It is considered possible that he will leave during the January transfer window.”

The recent situation regarding the youngster seems to be a relatively new development, as in earlier news regarding the player, via TransferFeed, Argentine journalist Garcia Grova had said that Olympiacos had rejected offers that they had on the table for Scipioni, and the club did not want him to leave the club.
After graduating from the academy of Argentine club Velez Sarsfield, Scipioni moved to fellow club Club Atlético Tigre in 2022, where he made 30 official league appearances over 3 seasons and scored one goal in the process.
In 2025, the player moved to Olympiacos, and this was his first exposure to European football. In his very first season with the club, Scipioni won the 2025 edition of the Greek Cup. Since arriving in Greece, the midfielder has made 20 official league appearances for Thrylos.
Scipioni’s current contract at Olympiacos runs until 30 June 2029, with an option to extend for one year. It is worth noting that his previous club, Tigre, has a 20% sell-on clause in case Olympiacos decides to sell the player. Currently valued in the market at €3.5 million, any further transfer of the 21-year-old would mean that both his previous and his current club will receive a substantial amount of money.

Substantial playing time seems difficult to achieve if Lorenzo Scipioni remains at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium, given that he is no longer a part of the manager’s tactical setup. A move away from Olympiacos seems to be the best course for the young midfielder if he wants to further develop his skills.
