Olympiacos Midfielder Gustavo Puerta Shares Major Personal News

Gustavo Puerta has withdrawn from the Colombian team after becoming a first-time father. The Olympiacos midfielder was by his wife’s side throughout the birth and welcomed his daughter with a sweet kiss.

The family has uploaded their first photos to social media. His little girl is named Oriana, and she has joined the Puerta family. Fortunately, everything went well, and the newborn didn’t let go of his hands.

As a reminder, on Sunday (Sept. 27), Puerta played normally against Mexico, facing his Red and White teammate, Armando ‘Hormiga’ Gonzalez.

In other news, Olympiacos midfielder Gustavo Sa reflected on his record-breaking tenure at Famalicao while detailing why the tactical quality of Portuguese soccer remains a step ahead of the Greek Super League.

In an interview on the show “Sem Filtros” on Sport24.gr, Sa began talking about his relationship with Portuguese side Famalicão, which helped him launch his career in Europe.

He said, “Famalicao is like my home. It was the club that welcomed me from the age of 13 to 21. I was captain in some youth categories, but also in the first team. I will be eternally grateful for everything they did for me, especially to President Miguel Ribeiro.”

Another Olympiacos player who spoke with the media recently is Manolis Saliakas. The Greek defender spoke to Hamburger Abendblatt about the difficulty of his decision to leave St. Pauli after several years, and apologized to Olympiacos, the team where he grew up.

On Philipp Treu, with whom he played together at St. Pauli: “Of course, we talked after the game and even exchanged shirts. I was very happy for Philipp when he moved to Freiburg and reached the Europa League final last season. That was a big deal.”

On his return to Olympiacos: “It was a very difficult decision to leave St. Pauli, but I believe it was the right thing for me and my family to return to Greece. Olympiacos has always been my favorite club in Greece, but I will also follow St. Pauli for the rest of my life. It was four incredible years.”
