Thanasis Antetokounmpo sits down for one of the most honest episodes of Thanalysis yet, and he is not holding anything back. He just signed with Greece and he says it is only sweet, not bittersweet. Tickets are sold out, jerseys are impossible to get, and he wishes every player who has ever touched a basketball could experience what it feels like to play in Greece for even one month.
He also breaks down why basketball is the sport of aristocrats and why NBA Europe is going to change the game forever.
Thanasis opens up about the decision to leave the NBA and what finally pushed him there. Ever since his dad passed away he says he has been doing everything for everybody else, and at a certain point he had to stop and ask himself what was actually going to make him happy.
The answer was Greece, his family, and a team built to win. He also talks about the night he was determined to get Alex in an NBA game, actively looking for his youngest brother the whole time, because he knew for a fact that their dad would have been watching. He also delivers one of the most powerful speeches we have had on the show. Stop looking left and right and start creating your own mountain.
He breaks down the three things he does that nobody else is even close to, why people told him to become a shooter and he made millions playing defense instead, and why he is a brother before he is a basketball player, before anything else.
