KUWAIT: Kuwait Basketball Association (KBA) announced on Saturday the appointment of Greek coach Vassilis Bratsiakos as head coach of the Kuwait senior national team for the first window of the Asian qualifiers. KBA Treasurer Ghazi Al-Otaibi told KUNA that Bratsiakos was selected based on his extensive coaching experience and distinguished record with both national teams and clubs. He added that the Greek coach also has experience in Gulf basketball, having previously coached in the region.
Al-Otaibi said Bratsiakos has been hired to lead the national team during the first window of the Asian qualifiers as part of the federation’s plan to strengthen the technical staff and ensure optimal preparation for upcoming competitions. He expressed confidence in the Greek coach’s ability to guide Kuwait to strong performances and provide the technical boost needed during the next stage, wishing him and the players success in the upcoming Asian qualifiers.
The Kuwait national team will travel to Egypt for a training camp, where it will play several warm-up matches before heading to the UAE to compete in the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers, which begin on Aug 23. — KUNA
