The Miami Heat now sit at the center of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s story after his stunning move from the Milwaukee Bucks, but this latest chapter belongs to his brother Alex. According to EuroHoops.net’s Johnny Askounis, Alex Antetokounmpo has officially signed with Promitheas Vikos Cola for the 2026–27 season. The move gives the Greek club another athletic forward and adds a fresh layer to the Antetokounmpo family storyline. Still, no Giannis brother was part of the trade to Miami.

The Heat star’s brother now gets another chance to build his own name in Greece. The 24-year-old forward stands 2.03 meters and brings experience from the United States, Spain, Canada, Lithuania, Montenegro, and Greece. It has been a winding road, but this next stop gives him a clearer path to steady his career.
That journey reached a special moment last season. Alex signed a two-way contract with Milwaukee and made his official NBA debut with the Bucks. The deal also created franchise history. Giannis, now with the Heat, Thanasis, and Alex became the first three brothers to play for the same team in Bucks history. Alex’s role was brief: he played only six games and averaged 3.2 points, 1.0 rebound, and 3.5 minutes per game. Still, that chapter gave the Antetokounmpo family a rare place in Bucks history.
Heat move did not include another Giannis Antetokounmpo brother
That distinction matters because Alex Antetokounmpo’s brief Bucks stint came with tension, even as the Heat now shape the larger Giannis conversation. Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that the signing “bothered” Doc Rivers and other coaches, who felt Milwaukee had gone too far to appease Giannis.

Now, Promitheas offers Alex a cleaner lane away from the Heat spotlight. The Patras club is preparing for the Basketball Champions League Qualification Rounds under head coach Giorgos Vovoras, giving Alex a chance to steady his career in Greece.
For Alex, this is more than another stop. It is a chance to turn movement into momentum. The Antetokounmpo name brings attention, but production must carry the rest. What comes next in Greece?
