Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, and everyone is Greek at the annual St. Barbara Greek Festival.
The fest, now in its 54th year at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Toms River, is a celebration of all things Greek, from food to dancing.
Festivalgoers can visit an outdoor food court for gyros, moussaka, souvlaki, pastitsio, spanakopita, baklava and more; listen to live Greek music, watch dance performances, shop vendors and play games.

Decoy and Gunning Show in Tuckerton

The 44th annual Old Time Barnegat Bay Decoy & Gunning Show, a fall staple in Ocean County, is back for another year.
The fest draws thousands to Tuckerton for demonstrations of decoy carving, boat building, duck and goose calling, and canine retrievers. The event showcases the traditions of those who made a living from hunting and fishing in the Barnegat Bay and the surrounding woods and waterways.
Attendees also can enjoy live music, take a boat ride on Tuckerton Creek, and visit Tuckerton Seaport to learn more about maritime life.

Film screening in Asbury Park

“The Airwaves Belonged to the People: WBCN and The American Revolution,” a documentary by Peabody Award-winning filmmaker Bill Lichtenstein, will be on the big screen at The ShowRoom Cinema in Asbury Park this weekend.
“The film chronicles the early days of the legendary Boston-based rock station that redefined radio’s relationship with its listeners and helped fuel the political, social, and cultural movements that transformed America in the late 1960s and early 1970s,” says a news release from the theater.
The documentary features archival footage of Bruce Springsteen’s first radio interview and in-studio performance, as well as never-before-exhibited footage shot by Andy Warhol, Patti Smith’s first live radio broadcast with her band, and rare archival material from Jane Fonda, Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Garcia, David Bowie, Bette Midler and Lou Reed, according to the release.

‘Passport to Wellness’ in Matawan
YMCA of the Jersey Shore Counseling & Social Services is hosting an open house titled “Passport to Wellness” in Matawan this weekend.
The event will “raise awareness about the wide range of mental health, recovery, youth and family support services available locally,” according to a news release from the organization, which provides mental health assistance, counseling, mentoring, therapies and family support in Monmouth and Ocean counties.

The Harvest Home Festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Historic Longstreet Farm in Holmdel.
Take a step back in time this weekend at Monmouth County Park System’s Harvest Home Festival, happening Sunday at Historic Longstreet Farm.
“Reminiscent of an old-fashioned fair from the 1890s, this event features wagon rides, old-fashioned games, live entertainment and craft demonstrations,” the park ssytem said.
Other activities include 1890s-style baseball, a pie-eating contest, and a plowing contest.

‘Monsters on the Beach,’ Wildwood
Get up close and personal with monster trucks at “Monsters on the Beach,” a three-day event happening this weekend in Wildwood.
The event, presented by Renegade Monster Truck Tour, kicks off Friday with a parade of trucks throughout Wildwood, followed by monster truck-driving competitions, driver meets, and more. Attendees will have the opportunity to walk the track and get close to the trucks, which include Stinger Unleashed, Terminal Velocity, Uproar, Dirt Crew, Block Head, Toxic and Illuminator.
