Famous Greek singer Giorgos Mazonakis passed away at the age of 54 due to a heart attack at a private clinic located in Athens.
The artist went to the medical institution to receive stem cell therapy.
His heart stopped functioning after the application of an intravenous catheter.
A few minutes after the incident, the performer was taken to another hospital by ambulance. Despite artificial respiration and other medical interventions performed in the intensive care unit, doctors were unable to revive him and recorded the death.
It should be noted that Mazonakis, born in 1972 in the town of Nikaia in the Piraeus region, began performing in various clubs in the early 1990s. He entered the music field of Greece at the age of 20.
The artist’s creative path began to develop after signing a contract with the company currently known as “Universal Music,” previously called “PolyGram.” It was this company that released his first album in 1993.
The performer’s musical style harmoniously combined the influences of renowned Greek artists such as Stratos Dionisiou, Yannis Parios, Marinella, and Haris Alexiou with modern pop rhythms. His distinctive stage performance made him one of the leading figures of local pop music.
