Greece, N.Y. — A park along the water in Greece is now named in honor of a longtime town supervisor.
The town held a ceremony Thursday rededicating Braddock Bay Park as Donald J. Riley Park at Braddock Bay.
Riley served as town supervisor from 1973-1989, overseeing the town’s acquisition of the park and adjacent marina, as well as the expansion of State Route 390 to the Lake Ontario State Parkway.
The 375-acre park, located off East Manitou Road, is a popular spot for bird watching and features a playground, boardwalk, shelters, lodges, trails, an observation platform and more.

Riley thanked those who made Thursday’s rededication possible.
“What a wonderful opportunity,” he said. “It’s sort of like being in heaven, to look around and those memories flood back.”
Following his time as supervisor, Riley served as CEO of the Rochester-Genesee Regional Transportation Authority and as a trustee for The Strong National Museum of Play.
