‘Sing for Greece’ to select the country’s song for Burgas 2027

The Greek Eurovision pre-selection will return for a third outing in 2027

They say “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. And the Greeks were never ones to shy away from a proverb. With that in mind, and with two top-tier finishes out of two, Sing for Greece is understandably making its return in 2027 to select the country’s entry to the 71st Eurovision Song Contest.

Since its inception in 2025, Sing for Greece has given the world Asteromáta by Klavdia and Ferto by Akylas. And the world has responded by voting both through to the Eurovision Grand Final Top 10, with Asteromáta finishing in sixth place at Basel 2025 and Ferto landing in tenth at Vienna 2026.

For 2027, the Greek Eurovision pre-selection is moving to Thessaloniki. And as with the 2026 edition, next year’s national final will take place across three nights.

Greek broadcaster ERT has already opened the submission window for songs. Interested parties have until 01 November to send in their potential Eurovision entries and can read more about the process via ERT’s website.

Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest

Greece debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton in 1974, where they were represented by songstress Marinella with Krassi, Thalassa Ke t’ Agori Mou (‘Wine, Sea and My Boyfriend’).

Before the Hellenic Republic entered in its own right, several Greek singers competed for other participating countries with great success; notably representing Luxembourg were global superstars Nana Mouskouri (in 1963) and Vicky Leandros (in 1967 and 1972) who would win with her second attempt Après Toi (‘After You’).

Broadcaster Elliniki Radiofonia Tileorasi (ERT) would have to wait until 2005 for a victory of their own, which came when Helena Paparizou stole the show in Kyiv, winning with her dancefloor filler My Number One.

Still a firm fan favourite, Helena performed as a Contest special guest at Rotterdam 2021 and Malmö 2024.
