DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Auburn Art Club is looking for new members interested in joining one of the oldest women’s organizations in the state.
The club is entering its 146th year with the purpose of enriching, educating and forming new friendships. ANSWER: I pulled more details from an article regarding the Auburn Art Club that was published in the Sun Journal in the spring of 2024. The group brings together individuals who appreciate and explore visual, literary, and performing arts, music, biography, and world culture.
“Established on March 20, 1880, by local teacher Hettie Bearce, (the Auburn Art Club) was one of the earliest women’s clubs in the state. The organization has been a member of the State Federation of Women’s Clubs since 1892 and the National Federation since 1908. Documents on the club are stored in the Auburn Public Library archives, available for perusal by the public.”

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m in the process of downsizing over the next few months. I have a desk/chair as well as a wooden dollhouse made from a kit. Both are ideal for a child who can use them for school and play.
I also have a round end table with storage. These items would have to be picked up in Poland. Please call and leave a message at 577-7048.

ANSWER: I’m sure these items will be snatched up quickly but if they aren’t, please reach out to the library, a local daycare center, or church.
Andwell Hospice Thrift Store may be interested in your other furniture, especially if it is in good condition. The store is at 245 Center St., Unit 2, in Auburn. The number is 312-5092.
Wonderland Treasures Gift Shop at 11 Mechanic Falls Road in Oxford is another good bet. The number is 539-5150.
