The Municipality of Amathous is presenting the 29th edition of the Amathousia Festival at the Ancient Agora of Amathus. The press release describes the festival as a cultural institution that has become a landmark of Cyprus’s cultural scene; each year, the historic site is transformed into a stage where art and music meet history.
Amathousia has welcomed distinguished artists from Cyprus and abroad for almost three decades, according to the announcement. Its productions have spanned theatre, dance, poetry and music, from Byzantine to ancient Greek and modern popular Greek.
The press release states that this year’s programme is devoted mostly to classical music, alongside modern, well-known Greek and Cypriot instrumental works arranged for violin and piano. The announcement describes the classical repertoire as ranging from well-known operatic arias to romantic 19th-century-style piano solos and modern, popular classical piano duets.
The music is being organised by Limassol pianist Tatiana Stupak, said the announcement, who will accompany Serbian violinist Olivera Rialas, a resident of Limassol. Stupak has also invited international singers from Serbia and Italy, soprano Jasmina Trumbetas and tenor Adriano Gentili, whom she will accompany on piano, the press release states. Piano duettists Emilia Pinto and Massimiliano Chiapinelli, also from Italy, have been invited as well.
The programme includes operatic arias from Verdi’s Rigoletto and La Traviata; Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers; Puccini’s La Bohème, Tosca, Gianni Schicchi and Manon Lescaut; Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana; and Lehár’s Das Land des Lächelns, the press release stated. It also includes piano solos by Chopin and Limassol composer David Pentecost, and piano duets featuring music by Piazzolla. According to the press release, Greek music for violin and piano will include works by Theodorakis and Hadjidakis, along with a traditional Cypriot piece.
According to the announcement, the concert will take place on Friday, 18 September 2026, at 8.30pm, at the Ancient Agora of Amathus, and will last around 100 minutes.
Admission is free, but the press release notes that obtaining a ticket is essential, as the number of places is limited. Tickets are available online through Ticketmaster (with a service fee) at ticketmaster.cy, or for cash at ACS Courier stores.
