Zorba the Greek ballet comes to Larnaca with Bolshoi star Tsvirko

The Sofia National Opera presents the iconic ballet “Zorba the Greek”, a landmark artistic collaboration bringing the celebrated Igor Tsvirko, principal dancer of the renowned Bolshoi Ballet, to the stage.

The world-famous production, set to music by Mikis Theodorakis and choreographed by Lorca Massine, had its historic premiere at the Arena di Verona in 1988, earning rave reviews. Since then, the ballet has toured continuously across the globe, notching up hundreds of performances in dozens of countries and winning over millions of audiences.

Based on the celebrated novel by Nikos Kazantzakis, the ballet goes beyond the art of dance itself. It stands as a powerful tribute to untamed freedom, defiant passion and the inner strength of the Greek spirit. Theodorakis’s timeless music, blending classical structure with traditional rhythms, turns every scene into a moment of real emotional intensity.

Audiences in Cyprus will have a rare chance to enjoy this cultural event as part of the Larnaca Municipality Festival. Two performances will take place on July 29 and 30 at the Pattichion Municipal Amphitheatre, promising an evening of emotion, drama and the grandeur of the Greek spirit under the summer sky.

Tickets available from Ticketmaster.cy and all ACS courier branches. The performance begins at 9pm.
