Falling on the last Monday of May each year, Memorial Day honors those who lost their lives while serving in the military. It’s a federal holiday that many people get off from work, resulting in a three-day weekend.
This year, Memorial Day falls on May 27, and for many, this holiday weekend marks the unofficial start of summer. We’ve rounded up some things to do Memorial Day Weekend in and around Novato. Please note: We recommend calling ahead to confirm the hours and access before you head out the door.
BottleRock Festival Napa Valley
When: Friday, May 24-Sunday, May 26 – 11:30 a.m.-10:00 p.m.

What: If you’re looking for an excursion this long weekend, the renowned BottleRock Napa Valley Music Festival returns this Memorial Day for a weekend of music, wine and culinary delights! Immerse yourself in electrifying performances of top artists such as Stevie Nicks, Megan Thee Stallion, Nelly, BeBe Rexha and much more. Attendees can also enjoy award-winning wines and indulge in gourmet culinary creations—all set against the stunning backdrop of Napa Valley.
Marin Greek Festival
When: Friday, May 24 – 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.; Saturday, May 25, 11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.; Sunday, May 26 – 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.
Where: Nativity of Christ Greek Orthodox Church, 1110 Highland Dr., Novato, CA 94949
What: This Memorial Day Weekend, celebrate Greek culture with the Marin Greek Festival. Enjoy traditional Greek delicacies and wines, listen to a live band performing Greek music and learn about Greek history and culture. All ages welcome!
“The Sonoma Shakers” Concert
When: Saturday, May 25 – 7:30-10:00 p.m.
Where: Trek Winery, 1026 Machin Ave., Novato, CA 94945
What: Enjoy local live music this long weekend with the Sonoma Shakers performing at Trek Winery. This a four-piece band is known for their expansive set of rock-n-roll and blues music. Cover fee is $5.
Hamilton Community Pool Opening Weekend
When: Saturday, May 25 – 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Where: Hamilton Community Pool, 203 El Bonito Dr., Novato, CA, 94949
What: The Hamilton Community Pool will reopen this Memorial Day Weekend, offering swim instruction, deep water exercise and recreational use for the 2024 season. The pool is also home to an exciting water play structure with a slide and lots of water spray — great for even our youngest community members on those hot summer days.
