WHITMAN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A popular Greek to-go spot in Whitman, with a name that lives large in South Shore restaurant lore, abruptly closed and was seized by the state.
Residents looking to grab a pizza and Greek salad from Christos To-Go were met with a locked door and a bright orange sign from the state that reads seized over non-payment of taxes.
The popular spot is an offshoot of the original restaurant, which operated in Brockton for years before closing over a decade ago. Locals like Ryan, who lives off Route 18, say they were shocked to find out that Christos 2.0 has closed due to unpaid taxes.

“Last time I was here was probably three months ago,” he said. “Hate to see you go. That’s a shame.”
Management says they are trying to clear things up as soon as possible so they can reopen. WBZ NewsRadio reached out to the restaurant, which said it couldn’t speak on the matter. They did post a message on social media saying they’re hoping to get things cleared up ASAP so they can be back open for business for this neighborhood around Route 18.
In the meantime, business is closed in Whitman.
