Greek-Australian singer and songwriter John Tikis has died at the age of 80, bringing to a close a musical career that spanned more than five decades and earned him a devoted following in Greece and among Greek communities abroad.
His death was announced by his daughters, Angela and Annita, in an emotional social media post on Friday.
“Our beloved father has left us. He lived his life with dignity, passion and generosity. He did it his way.”
The tribute referenced Frank Sinatra‘s iconic song My Way, a fitting farewell to an artist remembered for his distinctive voice and enduring love of music.
