Adelaide’s Greek Macedonian community came together for an afternoon of food, music, dancing and kefi at the annual Fasolada Festival.
Hosted by the Western Macedonian Brotherhood of Pavlos Melas South Australia, the festival was held on Sunday, August 2 at the Hellenic Macedonian Cultural Centre.
The annual celebration centred around fasolada, Greece’s traditional bean soup, which was prepared and served with the help of volunteers.
The Pavlos Melas Committee described the Fasolada Festival as a cherished event that the Brotherhood is proud to continue and celebrate with the community each year.
“The atmosphere on the day was incredible, with the Hellenic Macedonian Cultural Centre filled with music, dancing, laughter and plenty of kefi,” the committee said.
“Seeing the dance floor full throughout the day was truly special!”
Local Adelaide band Floga provided live music and entertainment throughout the afternoon, with attendees taking to the dance floor as they enjoyed the festivities.
Food was also a major part of the celebration, with the Vergina Greek Women’s Society contributing to the event and preparing its popular Vergina pites.
The Brotherhood thanked the Pan Macedonian Federation of South Australia, the Vergina Greek Women’s Society, committee members and volunteers who helped prepare the fasolada and supported the event throughout the day.
“We are equally grateful to the Pan Macedonian Federation and everyone who volunteered, supported the cooking of our famous fasolada, and generously gave their time and assistance throughout the day,” the committee said.
“Your dedication is what makes this event possible.”
The committee also thanked everyone who attended and supported the 2026 festival, saying it looked forward to bringing the community together again next year.
