“Because Plaintiffs’ Motion remains pending without a ruling, the Mayweather-Zambidis event will no longer proceed in Athens, Greece, as planned on Saturday evening,” attorney Melissa Glass wrote in a filing.
Glass added that the legal dispute “has effectively stopped any promotion or distribution plans for the event and halted ticket sales.”
The lawsuit claims CSI Sports Events paid Mayweather a combined $4.65 million in advances for exclusive rights tied to an exhibition against Mike Tyson and a professional rematch with Manny Pacquiao.
According to the complaint, Mayweather later announced the fight against Zambidis despite contractual language that allegedly prohibited him from participating in any other event before satisfying his obligations to Tyson.
CSI is seeking repayment of the advances and has asked the court to block the Greece exhibition altogether.
