Giorgos Dalaras is bringing his show ‘To Rebetiko’ to Cyprus in October, with a concert in Nicosia on October 6 and two in Limassol on October 8 and 9.
For the past two years, Dalaras has been performing rebetiko songs in major theatres across Europe, including in London, Paris, Stockholm, Hamburg and Amsterdam. He is joined by a band and by singers Aspasia Stratigou, Mariana Katsimicha and Vasilis Korakakis.
Rebetiko emerged a century ago, and its songs deal with poverty, love, displacement, life abroad, loss and hope.
“Rebetiko is not a museum,” Dalaras has said. He has described it as the most revolutionary and most alive form of Greek music, and said there is still much to learn from it.

October 8 and 9: Pattichion Municipal Theatre, Limassol
