Our Big Fat Greek Festival returns to Rock Island this weekend

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) –St. George Greek Orthodox Church will welcome the Quad Cities community to Our Big Fat Greek Festival on Friday, Sept. 18, from 4–10 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 19, from 11 a.m.–10 p.m., offering two full days of Greek food, music, culture and family activities on the church grounds at 2930 31st Avenue.

The festival’s biggest draw is its menu of traditional Greek cuisine, with favorites available both on‑site and through an expanded drive‑thru service. The drive‑thru will operate from 4–9 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Saturday, giving guests a convenient way to enjoy festival dishes without leaving their car.

It is possible to see the extensive food menu here.

On the grounds, visitors can also explore the Taverna, serving wine, ouzo and other beverages, while enjoying Greek music, dancing and cultural demonstrations.

The Kid’s Zone will be open throughout the weekend, and the outdoor kitchen, Zorbas, will offer extended hours for late‑night dining. Organizers say they are prepared with additional food and seating to accommodate growing attendance.

Admission is $2 for adults, and children 12 and under are free. The festival is open to all and celebrates the church’s longstanding tradition of sharing Greek heritage with the Quad Cities.

More information is available through St. George Greek Orthodox Church website here.
