COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The Columbus Greek Festival is underway this weekend, bringing traditional food, music and dancing to downtown Columbus.
The festival is being held across from the Greater Columbus Convention Center at 555 North High St. and gives visitors a chance to experience different parts of Greek culture.
Organizers say one of the biggest traditions is the food, with many dishes prepared by members of the community instead of outside vendors.
“We are one of the few festivals that still make our own food. We don’t bring vendors in,” festival co-chair Helen Rankin said. “When we’re eating food here, we are actually eating recipes that are generations and generations and generations old.”
Rankin said sharing those traditions allows visitors to experience a piece of Greek culture while helping preserve it for future generations.
The festival continues through the weekend, running from noon to 11 p.m. Sunday and wrapping up Monday at 5 p.m.
