The Odyssey effect is still in full swing.
Since its release, sales of the 2,700-year-old poem are up 76%, as per the Guardian, and the Christopher Nolan film’s influence is being felt on the fashion front, too.
Floaty, Greek mythology-inspired silhouettes are everywhere at the moment, which suits us perfectly here at Red, seeing as we love a little boho-chic at this time of year.
Free-spirited dressing is always the fashion set’s style du jour come summer, when every It girl worth their salt has a floaty white skirt on rotation; but nothing really encapsulates boho chic quite like a dress.
Our Instagram feeds are dominated by soft, romantic draping and featherlight fabrics at the moment and fashion girls seem to be wearing Greek goddess-style dresses on repeat.
Perfectly toeing the line between boho and Ancient Greece, flowing dresses are as effortless as they are romantic, but more discerning dressers might find all that whimsy a bit much – rest assured there are plenty of silhouettes that lean minimalist on the high street, too.
What’s more, lovely white dresses like the below have been given the fashion editor seal of approval, with our senior fashion editor Jodie telling us she’s also championing white dresses for summer, explaining “the appeal of the white dress lies in its effortless ability to feel polished and playful all at once”.
Styling-wise, Jodie adds: “If pristine white feels a little too sweet, take your cue from Givenchy’s S/S ’26 styling and add a tougher edge. A sharply cut black leather biker or bomber jacket thrown nonchalantly over the top instantly shifts the mood while keeping the monochrome palette, finished with oversized black sunglasses and a chunky gold chain.” Noted!
Each of the below pieces has elements of Grecian bohemia, but champions classic silhouettes that won’t leave your garden party hosts wondering who invited Athena.
But that doesn’t mean you have to scrimp on romanticism; you’ll still find beautiful draping, ruffles and billowy fabric galore. Trust us when we say the Greek gods would be proud.
