HALKIDIKI – A new event dedicated to wine, tsipouro, the harvest, the viticultural tradition, and the people of the vine is included this year in the expanded cultural program of the Municipality of Aristotelis’ Aristotelia celebration.
From September 10-13, Megali Panagia, the most important wine hub of the Municipality of Aristotelis, hosts for the first time the four-day festival ‘Megali Panagia Ampelonas’, an event that is involved with Kouzina and aspires to develop into an institution for the promotion of the viticultural identity of the region.
The festival was created with the aim of highlighting the historical and modern vineyards of Eastern Halkidiki, to strengthen extroversion in the mountainous area of the Municipality of Aristotelis and to promote the connection of local production with culture, gastronomy and tourism.

Its program includes parades – with local philharmonic and traditional costumes, revivals of wine customs, Macedonian feasts, jazz and brass bands from Banja Luca, promotion of local products and wine products, master chef booths for cocktails with wine and local tsipouro, special flavors with wine lees and recipes made “in wine”, family day, workshop on the theme of ‘grapes and honey’, tours of wineries, mushroom excursions and olive oil tastings, open dairies, and a cooking demonstration of Megalopanagiotiko sausage with wine lees.
The event pays tribute to the region’s winegrowers and winemakers, who keep alive longstanding tradition and contribute decisively to the shaping of the local economy and identity. A special tribute will be given to the winemaking of Mount Athos – the centuries-old tradition, which the Athonite monks perpetuate with respect for the heritage.
‘Megali Panagia Ampelonas’ is another initiative for the creation of thematic events that promote authentic experiences and highlight the natural and productive wealth of the place.
