The “Panayir” Greek Culture Festival will take place in Kyiv

On May 30, 2026, the “Panayir” festival will take place in Kyiv at the VDNG exhibition grounds—a large-scale celebration of Greek culture, music, and traditions organized by the Federation of Greek Societies of Ukraine in collaboration with Mariupol State University.

The event will bring together representatives of the Greek community, artists, educators, folk artists, young people, and families from various regions of Ukraine. Festival guests will have the opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage of the Greeks of Ukraine through music, dance, cuisine, crafts, and interactive activities.

The festival program includes:

🔹 performances by ethnic Greek ensembles and guest artists;

🔹 a food fair featuring traditional dishes from the Greek communities of Ukraine and Greece;

🔹 an ethno-lecture series on the history and culture of the Greek communities of Ukraine;

🔹 sports and children’s activities;

🔹 a series of creative workshops for children and adults.

The organizers paid special attention to creative spaces dedicated to the fusion of Ukrainian and Greek traditions. In particular, the Mykhailo Boychuk Kyiv State Academy of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design will present master classes on making motanka dolls with elements of vybika, painting decorative plates, and creating ceramic items and mosaics.

Visitors will also be able to participate in a master class on making Psatir—the traditional ceremonial bread of the Greeks of Donetsk Oblast—creating a “Greek Ornament” paper cutout, as well as interactive activities from the Mariupol Local History Museum and Mariupol State University.

The “Panayir” Festival will serve as a space for cultural dialogue, community unity, and the preservation of Ukraine’s multinational heritage.
