The Whittlesea and District Greek Elderly Citizens Club celebrated Mother’s Day with a joyful afternoon of food, dancing and community connection, bringing together members and guests for a heartfelt tribute to mothers and grandmothers.
The event was filled with warmth and laughter as attendees enjoyed a generous spread of pizza, loukoumades, chocolates, drinks and ice cream, creating a festive atmosphere for the special occasion.

=In a thoughtful gesture, every mother attending received a rose and chocolates, adding a personal touch to the celebration and recognising the important role mothers and grandmothers play within family and community life.
Music and dancing were central to the afternoon, with members taking to the dance floor and embracing the lively atmosphere, while raffle prizes added further excitement as lucky winners walked away with a variety of gifts.

Club president Steve Mangos, alongside committee members Georgia Sahinis, Olga Constandinidis and Alexandra Konstandinidis, were praised for their tireless efforts in organising another successful community gathering.
The celebration also highlighted the multicultural spirit of the local community, with mothers from the Nepalese community joining the festivities, dancing alongside members and enjoying the club’s warm Hellenic hospitality.

A touching moment of the day included a photo featuring Mary Lalios and Elizabeth Williams, who at 92-and-a-half years old was recognised as the eldest mother present at the celebration.
Members left the event with smiles, cherished memories and a renewed appreciation for the mothers who continue to hold families and communities together.
