‘Women of Byzantium’ performance comes to Parramatta – The Greek Herald

A musical and theatrical performance titled Women of Byzantium was recently presented by the Hellenic Lyceum of Sydney at the Parish of St John the Baptist in Parramatta.

Under the directorial guidance of Lyceum President Liana Vertzayias, the production explored the lives of nine iconic women from the Byzantine era, bringing their stories to life through dramatic performance, music and dance.

The event combined theatrical storytelling with live musical elements and culminated in a presentation of traditional dances from Asia Minor, choreographed by the Lyceum’s Dance Convenor Irene Tsenkas.

Audience members responded enthusiastically to the performance, which celebrated Byzantine history and the enduring cultural traditions of Hellenism.

The organisers also expressed their gratitude to the parish community for its support, particularly Parish Priest Fr Dimitrios Kokkinos, Parish President Kosmas Dimitriou, and the Dimitriou Litsa family for helping bring the production to life.
