“Survivor Greece” has been removed from the schedule after a contestant suffered a dangerous incident “outside the competitive process of the reality show,” per the production company.

Stavros Floros, a 21-year-old beekeeper, was spearfishing during a break from filming in the Dominican Republic in May when a tourist boat struck him while he was in the water.
The boat’s propeller “accidentally struck him” while he was in the water, according to the Toronto Sun, and partially amputated Floros’ left leg below the knee, and also caused significant trauma to his right ankle.
AcunMedya, the production company behind “Survivor Greece,” said in a statement obtained by the outlet, “From the very first moment, there was an immediate response to provide assistance and safely transport the injured contestant, while the competent port authorities are investigating the causes of the incident in order to fully determine the circumstances.

“The contestant remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition and is out of danger.”
Authorities and the company did note Floros was “diving without a surface marker buoy in an area frequented by tourist vessels” when he was struck.
SKAI television, which airs “Survivor Greece,” said it will assist with medical treatment and rehab for Floros.

“Until the causes of the incident are fully investigated, the television broadcast of the program is being suspended,” they added.
“Survivor Greece” is currently in its 13th season, which premiered earlier this year as the No. 1 show in its timeslot.
