Greece sent the art; Rome built the empire

An exhibition tracing ancient Greek art’s influence on Roman culture has opened at the Acropolis Museum, running through August 30.

Inaugurated by Greek and Italian culture officials to mark the museum’s 17th anniversary, “Inspirations. Ancient Greek Art Living in Italy” features 38 masterworks on loan from Italy.

The seven-section display illuminates how Greco-Roman heritage serves as the foundation of Western civilization.

The museum stays open late on Fridays, until 10 pm.
