you are supposed to take a spoonfull of that and dip it in the water before licking it.The texture is like very grainy icing but when dipped in water,that first layer that you lick off is smooth and has a very strong mastiha flavour.Sometimes people will drink the leftover water,depends.
Υo my mother and later us used to eat like that in our vacation, we are Greeks. I have a very strong memory of my mother every night having a dessert like that
