SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Several festivals swept Syracuse to pair with the beautiful weekend summer weather. In case you missed out on the recent fun, read here for a full recap of this weekend’s events.

What else is going on in Syracuse this summer?

Greek Festival

Greek Fest celebrated 53 years of authentic Greek cuisine, community, and bringing people together. Visitors had the opportunity to dine on food like souvlaki, watch Greek folk dancers embody the spirit of κέφι, and even tour the sophisticated St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church.

“We love the culture, the music, the shopping in the church every single year, and the food, of course,” said Radhika Metha, one of the festival’s many attendees.

“Not just in the Utica area, we want to send it all across the United States.”

The festival was held from June 12 to June 14. You can read more about it here.

Induction Weekend

For the fighters, induction weekend took place at the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canasota. A parade marched through the village to showcase some of boxing’s most renowned champions.

Nigel Benn is a former British professional boxer who competed from 1987 to 1996.

“You don’t see yourself as being in the hall of fame, but to get inducted into the hall of fame is beyond my wildest dreams,” he emphasized.
