Discover Airlines is set to expand its European network by introducing flights from Frankfurt and Munich, targeting next summer for the launch. The expansion includes increased frequencies to favored destinations like Greece and Bulgaria. Additionally, the airline is adding two unique destinations within the Lufthansa Group’s network: Ålesund and Bodø in Norway. Discover Airlines will be the sole carrier offering direct flights to these Norwegian cities from Germany.

Discover Airlines Expands Its Horizons to the Nordic Realms with Unprecedented Variety

Next summer, Discover Airlines is set to enhance its Northern Europe travel options, boasting a record array of five destinations across the Nordic region. A highlight of the season will be the introduction of a new route, offering bi-weekly flights (Wednesdays and Saturdays) from Frankfurt to Ålesund. This scenic journey lasts approximately two and a half hours and operates from early May to late October. Ålesund is situated at the gateway to the renowned Geirangerfjord on Norway’s coast, providing travelers with stunning vistas and direct access to the fjord’s majestic beauty.

Further expanding its network, Discover Airlines will also initiate twice-weekly services (Mondays and Thursdays) from Munich to Bodø, starting in early June and continuing through October. This three-hour flight connects passengers directly to Bodø, a prime location for exploring the breathtaking Lofoten archipelago. Additionally, a new flight connection from Frankfurt to Evenes is slated to begin in the summer of 2025, with plans to run up to three times weekly (Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays).

The airline is also extending its reach to Kittilä in Finland, maintaining it as a year-round destination with flights departing twice weekly (Mondays and Fridays) from Frankfurt. This route makes Discover Airlines the first international carrier to provide direct summer flights to this secluded spot in Finnish Lapland, traditionally known for its winter appeal.

Lastly, Discover Airlines will be taking over the Munich to Keflavik route, previously operated by Lufthansa. This service will connect travelers to the vicinity of Reykjavík, Iceland’s vibrant capital. The flights are scheduled to run up to three times a week from April to the end of October, marking the airline’s inaugural venture into Iceland.

Greece shines as the most featured destination on Discover Airlines’ itinerary, with the introduction of Kefalonia and Kalamata expanding its Frankfurt route to include eleven scenic locales by next summer. Flights to Kefalonia will depart every Monday, while Kalamata will see departures on Sundays. These additions complement the existing Munich schedule. Notably, Discover Airlines provides the sole direct flight from Frankfurt to Kefalonia. Leading the Greek lineup, Heraklion in Crete will see a significant increase in service, with six additional flights raising the total to 21 weekly departures.

Next summer also marks the debut of Burgas, Bulgaria, in Munich’s travel roster. From July through early October, flights will connect passengers to this vibrant Black Sea port city every Wednesday and Sunday, supplementing the ongoing service to Varna, which will increase to three weekly flights.

Overall, Discover Airlines is set to offer a robust selection of 36 short to medium-haul destinations from Frankfurt and 29 from Munich, enriching its summer travel portfolio.
