CRETE – A recent report published by the small-ship cruise company Sail Croatia has named the island of Crete in Greece as one of its top travel destinations for girls looking for a summer vacation spot.
The report, published in May, ranked Crete as number three out of the top 10 spots, identifying it as a place where women can comfortably relax and also feel secure.
Crete is recognized as the largest island in Greece and the fifth-largest across the Mediterranean Sea. Its population is currently estimated at 650,000 and is known for its beautiful mountainous landscapes, famous pink-sand beaches, and rich history, especially being known as the birthplace of Zeus.
This study noted how the determining factors for what makes each place a top destination come down to five – safety, the amount of outdoor activities and tours available, the spas and wellness facilities, the popularity via social media, and daily cost including accommodation, food, and travel expenses.

In first place was Bali, Indonesia, second – Phuket, Thailand, third – Crete, fourth – Kotor, Montenegro, fifth – Azores, Portugal, sixth – Tenerife, Spain, seventh – Dubrovnik, Croatia, eighth – Tulum, Mexico, ninth – Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and finally, in tenth place – Split, Croatia.
Crete was listed as number three on the list as girl groups who visit the island can enjoy 658 outdoor activities such as hiking the Samaria Gorge, sailing along the coast, and exploring Minoan ruins.
The daily cost for girls visiting the island is slightly higher than most on the list, ranking up to $294 per person, due to accommodation and meals.
The site also noted how the spa and wellness scene is smaller than Bali or Phuket, however Crete makes up for it with authentic villages, secluded coves, and a laid‑back pace.
