UNO in the news: Live Science sought the expertise of Ancient Mediterranean Studies Director and Professor Jeanne Reames, Ph.D., for its coverage of the discovery of the school where Alexander the Great was educated in the ancient Macedonian city of Mieza.
Why it matters: The lessons Alexander the Great received from Aristotle in the uncovered school shaped his leadership before spreading his knowledge of philosophy, science, and literature.
Zoom in: When asked to share her expertise, Reames agreed with the findings, adding that she hopes the discovery will “shed more light on elite education in Macedonia in the second half of the 4th century.”
Reames is a globally recognized expert on Alexander the Great, ancient Macedonia, and Greek history, and served as a Series Historical Consultant on Netflix’s “Alexander: The Making of a God”.
