Christian Karembeu Calls Armando Gonzalez a ‘Phenomenon’ After Olympiacos Arrival

Armando ‘La Hormiga’ Gonzalez went to Greece to strengthen Olympiacos F.C.‘s attack, with Christian Karembeu speaking in the best terms about the Piraeus side’s new signing and describing him, among other things, as a “phenomenon” in an interview with Mexican television network TUDN.

Gonzalez, 23, is now officially a Red and White player. Olympiacos announced the striker on Saturday (Aug. 22), and a few hours later, he was at Georgios Karaiskakis, watching his new team’s match against Atromitos live in the first round of the Super League Greece.

Opinions of the Mexican forward are excellent, and he is now being called upon to prove them on the pitch in a completely new football environment. Karembeu, for his part, called him a phenomenon and said he would help the club immensely.

He said, “For us, he is a phenomenon, and I believe his arrival gives us a little air, a little oxygen, because I believe we can properly use his potential.”

“He is another option for the attack, and with him we will score more goals. Today we had chances, but we were not able to finish them, and I believe that is one of the elements he has,” he stressed on the Mexican television network TUDN. The Red and White club’s strategic adviser and ambassador added:

“I think they can play together with El Kaabi and finish the plays. It’s still too early to say who can compete, but I think they can combine.”

“I believe Armando is already ready. He wants it; he is hungry, and that is normal because he is very young and his future is really bright.”

“If you look closely at our league, there are many international footballers playing here. And Greece has won a European trophy, the Conference League. He is at a very big club in Greece, but he also has the opportunity to play in the Europa League or the Champions League.”

“At least next year, if we win the championship, we can go directly to the Champions League. We are a big club in Greece and in Europe. We have won titles not only with the first team, but also with the youth team, through the Youth League.”

Meanwhile, Olympiacos started their season on the right foot (so to speak) with a 1-0 victory over Atromitos at Georgios Karaiskakis.
