NYC is filled with historic houses of worship, but stepping inside the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity on the Upper East Side feels like being transported entirely out of the five boroughs.
Now, this breathtaking Neo-Byzantine marvel is setting the stage for a completely mesmerizing experience.
The cathedral is currently transforming into a glowing concert hall for a massive Candlelight series featuring the iconic works of Vivaldi. 🎻
Candlelight: Featuring Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and More
Making for the most stunning marriage of flawless acoustics, jaw-dropping architecture, and thousands of flickering candles — it’s something you won’t stop talking about for a long time.
Running for only 5 select nights starting next month, it’s as exclusive as a music experience can get in this city, and we have all the details before the secret gets out.
A Neo-Byzantine masterpiece hidden in plain sight
Tucked away on East 74th Street, this architectural stunner has been a neighborhood fixture since 1932.
As the national cathedral of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, it actually holds the title of the largest Eastern Orthodox church in the Western Hemisphere.
The history behind the cathedral is incredibly rich too.
Eleanor Roosevelt laid the original cornerstone in 1931, and legendary opera singer Maria Callas was baptized right inside its walls.
It’s a genuine piece of New York history that most locals walk right past without realizing the absolute beauty hiding behind its red brick and limestone exterior.

Breathtaking visuals meet unbelievable acoustics
The moment you walk through the doors, you are completely surrounded by opulent design.
The interior is dripping in Botticino marble and glowing imported Italian stained glass.
But the undeniable star of the show is the massive dome overhead. The intricate iconography was painted by celebrated Greek artist Georgios Gliatas, making you want to stare at the ceiling all night.
Because the space was originally designed for sweeping religious services, the acoustics are out of this world.
Every single string pluck and bow stroke reverberates perfectly through the nave, making it a truly elite venue for live classical music.

The magic of Vivaldi under a sea of candles
This specific concert brings Antonio Vivaldi’s legendary Four Seasons to life like you have never seen before.
Runnin for 60 hypnotic minutes, a tremendously talented string quartet takes the stage surrounded by a sea of gentle candlelight, illuminating the marble columns and gold-leaf mosaics around them.
The setlist includes Vivaldi’s masterpieces alongside incredible recomposed tracks by Max Richter and Astor Piazzolla.
