Celebration continues at the Panegyri Greek Festival

The 38th annual Panegyri Greek Festival is continuing through Saturday, bringing Greek culture and heritage to Erie.

The festival is once again bringing Greek cuisine, music and dancing to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, with tours of the church available throughout the event.

Panegyri Greek Festival returns for 38th year

Visitors could check out a variety of vendors selling unique products from handmade icons and religious items to souvenirs.

Organizers said it’s an opportunity to showcase Greek culture and bring awareness to the community.

“We just want to perpetuate where our parents, grandparents came from,” said Jerome Simon, co-chair for the Panegyri Greek Festival. “We’re all immigrants. Some came sooner, some came later and everything, and just, and also our faith, you know, Eastern Orthodox.”

The festival continues until 10 p.m. Saturday night.
