The Remnants Sagas is a fantasy world created by Tameka E. Wesley, who writes under the pen name “T.E.W.” The fictional series marries Greek mythology with modern life, creating a relatable world filled with the supernatural and self-discovery.

She describes herself as a country girl at heart who grew up in a home with only her grandmother.

Laternia Taylor explains how a teacher’s guidance led her to become an author

“You have no choice but to have imagination,” Wesley said. “Making mud pies, you know, running through the woods, that type of thing. That was me growing up.”

Wesley is dyslexic, but her grandmother encouraged her to read and would buy a variety of books to ensure her granddaughter found engaging material, making reading more enjoyable. Then Tameka opened a book of haikus. This sparked her love of poetry, which led her to become a published author.

She said it wasn’t until high school that a writing assignment exposed a skill beyond rhyming couplets. There is always a teacher who recognizes the initial spark that starts the flame.

Wesley said her own personal journey to self-discovery helped her conceive The Remnants Sagas.

Artist explains how the power of art and acceptance changed his life

“I found out about, and I found God. Growing up creative, we can get looks. You can be a bit extra,” Wesley said. “And this message is true: love is unconditional, timeless, and unwavering. That is what hit me, in that time, in that moment, it was profoundly clear that I needed to spread this message.”

The characters in the book, she said, are a reflection of herself. A way to explain necessary but often painful transformations in life. And her way of sharing with readers the beautiful inspiration found in the transformation of the story’s main character, Eve, who is the literal Phoenix rising.
