To wrap up the last week of August, a series of live music performances are happening across the island. Arriving to beat those back-to-school/back-to-work blues, local musicians are gearing up to offer more evenings of live jazz, bossa nova and rock.
First up is a jazz performance at the Groovy Garden Café-bar in Paphos on Thursday. Vocalist Iliana Alexandrou, pianist Alex Michael, drummer Rafail Mina and guitarist Lefteris Savva will enchant guests with their soulful and groovy jazz tunes from 9pm onwards as the bar serves special cocktails.
Also happening in Paphos this week is a live set by the Beats’n’Pieces quartet as it returns to the Technopolis 20 garden on Friday. Four musicians (Eleonora Roussou, Alexis Kasinos, Andreas Rodosthenous and Rodos Panagiotou) will serenade audiences with jazz, pop, soul and bossa nova melodies as well as some original songs. Performing together since 2018, the quartet explores the diverse depictions of love in different music styles, often encouraging the audience to sing along to beloved tunes.
In a more rockin’ mood, Savino Live in Larnaca will host the popular pop-rock band Fuse for a summer farewell performance on Saturday. Their late-night gig, starting at 11pm, will kick off a new season of live music events at the Larnaca bar.
In terms of concerts, lovers of Greek music have two events to look forward to this week. One is a concert with Greek singers Pantelis Thalassinos and Despina Olympiou on Friday. Happening within the 62nd Kaishiou Dance, the concert will take place at the Deftera Municipal Field Stadium at 8pm. Also on Friday is a Larnaca concert with well-known Despina Vandi who celebrates 30 years in the music industry. She will entertain fans at the Pattichio Municipal Amphitheatre, taking the stage at 9pm to sing her all-time classics and hit songs.
