St. Sophia’s Greek Cultural Festival to celebrate its 51st year this June

Syracuse’s largest and most popular Greek cultural festival returns to St. Sophia’s this June!

St. Sophia’s Greek Cultural Festival is slated for June 6-9 on church grounds located at 325 Waring Road in DeWitt.

This year will be marked with special events as St. Sophia’s celebrates its 51st annual festival! Attendees can be sure to have a full variety of authentic Greek foods and desserts they have come to enjoy over the years. Live Greek music and dance performances will take place under the outdoor “taverna” tent. Patrons will also have the chance to learn a Greek dance, take a tour of the church’s iconography project and shop for clothing, jewelry, and books in the Greek village marketplace.

Founded in 1917, St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church is the center of the religious, social, and cultural life of its parish and host to every festival for the last 50 years. To kick off the festival, a special opening ceremony will take place on Thursday with local dignitaries present to commemorate this momentous year.

“We are excited and eager to once again celebrate our Greek culture and heritage with our community,” said Parish Council President Peter Manolakos.

Festival hours are Thursday 5 p.m. – 9 p.m., Friday 5 p.m. – 10 p.m., Saturday 12 p.m. – 10 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

The event is free to attend and park. Complimentary shuttles are available from neighboring school parking lots. More information is available online.
