John Michael Michaelides Obituary – Beaumont, CA (1936-2024)


John Michael Michaelides, of Beaumont, CA, passed away on March 15, 2024. John was born to the late Michael and Polymnia Michaelides in Larnaca, Cyprus. John moved to the United States at the age of 17, settling in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, before setting out for California, where he would eventually meet his wife Connie.During their 62 years of marriage, they remained in Southern California, living in Pasadena, San Dimas, Lake Elsinore, Beaumont, and Azusa (where they spent nearly 25 years). John is survived by his loving wife, Connie and 7 children: Michael (Tiffaney) Michaelides, Pola (Max) Pedregon, Magdaline Harris, Maria (John) Mercado, Anthony (Susan) Michaelides, Melanie (Greg) Lundeen, and Christopher Michaelides. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren: Johnny, Michael, Victoria, Maryanne, Christina, Joseph, Matthew, Andrew, Nicholas, Steven, Timothy, Julianne, Isabel, Abigail, Matthew, Joshua, Christen, Jacob, Angel, Dominek, and Destiny, and 9 great grandchildren. John was predeceased by his loving daughter Alexia, brother Harry, and sisters Florence and Cleo.John devoted his life to his wife, Connie and to their 8 children. From annual camping trips to days down the beach, he enjoyed precious time spent with the ones he loved. He was also deeply devoted to the church, and from a young age in Cyprus, grew to love music. He studied Byzantine chant and for most of his life participated either as part of a church choir, the choir director, or the lead cantor in several Greek Orthodox Churches, with most of his years spent singing at Saint Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church in Covina, CA. He also performed in several musical plays, sang at weddings and funerals, and competed to appear on both the X Factor and America’s Got Talent under his aka “Iron John” Michaelides.John was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He made a positive difference in all the lives he touched, through his kind manner and through his music. Funeral services were held on April 19, 2024, at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church in San Bernardino, CA, with graveside service at Hillside Memorial Park in Redlands.
