I would love to learn about the spice blend. I’m trying to get my husband to try new things and he’s very willing to so I would love to get some ideas for spice blends.
Oh my gosh, this looks delicious! I’ve been trying to get my husband to eat more lentils and this would be a great day. She would love this plus I just bought feta ha ha.
Your take on mujadara would be great. Also if you know how to make koshari, an Egyptian lentil dish would be awesome
All your recipes are awesome but now that I am a vegetarian again your vegetarian recipes are truly a welcome gift from Mount Olympus! I will take them with me when I’m in Europe soon. Everyone there are meat eaters except for salad, pita and bean soups so I will introduce them to veg life via your recipes!
Nistisimo! ❤ So fakoriso will be my go-to dish, it's a pain to explain vegetarian and nistisimo.
Can the lentils be made in an instant pot for this recipe
Love the blue cooking pot. Is it vintage or a brand that's still made?
This should be in the vegetarian playlist
Hi from Melbourne congratulations on your show. Christine
Dimitra, I don’t know what it is with and the dishes, really touch my heart. Yours reminds me more of my heritage and my darling Mother’s cooking 🥲thank you
You should get a ribbon for your videos… REFRESHINGLY TO THE POINT! and minus that horrible noise that masquerades as music, something most video makers add to their background. Besides all of that, your recipes are delicious!
She sounds like she has a Southern California accent… I grew up there, and there were lots of Greek people in my neighborhood… The kids of the Italians and the Greeks always had a feeling of kinship; our churches were next door to each other, we went to each other's parties and festivals, and we played together all the time. There was lots of similarities in our food and upbringing, and that's probably why we always felt closer to each other than to other ethnicities, although we all got along pretty well in general… As a kid in my old neighborhood, Dimitra would've been given a nickname that everyone could pronounce easily, such as "Didi" or "Dimi" or "Dee" or "Mimi"… I was always "Joe" or "Peppe", never "Giuseppe".
Hmmm… I was told to "never add salt to beans/lentils/chickpeas/pulses etc until they are soft, because the salt will toughen the skins"… Maybe it's just an old superstition? I've always followed that rule, and I've never had tough beans, so maybe there is something to it? Beans are cheap enough that I could do an experiment and find out for sure, but for now I'll stick with what works. (Salt at the finish, not the beginning.) Has anyone else heard of such a thing?
always delicious dishes and always come out perfectly … thank you dimitra for the step by step
👍😊
Can I use red lentils, just adding them to the rice while cooking?
Dimitra, don't you find that re-using the lentil cooking liquid causes the dish to be a bit more gassy than usual?
Necesito subtitulos en español!
Wow, so a winter version of the lentil tabbouleh… very good. How are pomegranate's used in Greek cuisine?
Looks delicious! Definitely making this!!!
I've made it with brown rice and it took me awfully lot of time.
For those wanting to use brown rice, as I did: cook the rice the typical way, just for 10 min less than normaly, before adding to this dish.
It was tasty though and I will make it again.
This dish is amazing!! My husband had three servings and he’s picky with his rice. I usually like to leave out certain garnishes like parsley or lemon just because I want to eat certain things as is but I decided to try with parsley and lemon and it takes the rice to next level of flavor.
Orthodox fasting season is now in overdrive. You should consider starting an Orthodox Lent culinary survival guide with 30-40 recipes. I could help you market it. Most of the southern churches are anglo converts and so it's all sack cloth and ashes to get through Lent cheaply and without misery 😀 I'm telling you… this is a hidden market for you. Doing this recipe this evening along with a Mediterranean take on Spinach/Turnip green Palak.
Wonderful,thank you
You have to be the best Greek show I have ever whach. I am not Greek so I have to learn everything ,but you make so easy 😊
Do another version by adding the camerilize onion
How many people does this dish serve?
I love your dishes.thanks. I love the music too. Is that Greek instrumental music?
