Greek Festival Happening This Weekend (Friday-Sunday) Featuring Gyro Eating Competition on Saturday

Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church will hold its annual Greek festival starting Friday, September 6th and running until Sunday, September 8th. The festival will take place over three days–  on the grounds of Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, located at 701 Norwood Road in Silver Spring: Friday, 9/6: 4pm-9pm, Saturday, 9/7: 11am-9pm. Sunday, 9/8: 11am-7pm

You‘ll be able to enjoy homemade Greek dishes and desserts, such as gyros, souvlaki, and loukoumades or shop at local Greek vendors for Greek groceries, jewelry, and crafts all while enjoying Greek music with live performances from Greek dance troupes. A raffle for a brand new 2024 Mercedes GLB (donated by Mercedes of Silver Spring) will also be taking place at the festival, with the winner of the raffle being given the option to accept the car or $30,000 cash as the prize.

On Saturday, our very own Mr. MoCo will be emceeing a gyro-eating competition hosted by Big Greek Cafe that will even feature a couple competitive eaters from across the country. Each contestant will receive a Big Greek Gift Box valued over $150 and there’s a $1000 first place cash prize and Championship belt. The goal is to eat as many gyros as possible within the 20 minute time limit. The participant who consumes the most gyros wins.

Food orders are also accepted online at this link with a portion of all proceeds going to Shepherd’s Table. Parking and admission to the festival is free. Photos from last year’s event can be seen below:
