Information suggests artists expected to submit proposals to represent Greece in the 69th edition of the competition include Josephine, LILA, and Shaya. However, these names haven’t sparked enthusiasm within ERT.
Which singer will receive the offer for Eurovision 2025?
One name resonates strongly within ERT following the departure of Konstantinos Zoulas and his replacement by Giannis Papadopoulos. That name is none other than Eleni Foureira.
Following her near-victory at Eurovision 2018 with “Fuego,” Foureira admitted she would seriously consider returning to Eurovision, this time for Greece, if offered the opportunity. She expressed disappointment with ERT for rejecting her multiple times before Cyprus ultimately placed their trust in her.
As Panik Records CEO George Arsenakos highlighted after Eurovision 2018, “For three years prior to 2018, we proposed Eleni to ERT for Greece’s participation. We were open to all possibilities: competing in the national final or direct selection, whatever they preferred. Each time, we were rejected. They wouldn’t even allow her to compete in the national final. Why? Although never explicitly stated, I believe the speculation surrounding her origin played a role.”
However, the arrival of Giannis Papadopoulos at ERT signals a new era for the public broadcaster. He aims to revolutionize the station’s image.
