Go Greek Yogurt opens its first NYC location in NoHo

Go Greek Yogurt, a yogurt and frozen yogurt brand known for its Mediterranean focus and ingredients, has arrived in the Big Apple.

The chain, which first opened shop in 2012 in Beverly Hills, opened its first New York City location in NoHo, located at 683 Broadway, on Sunday.

Visitors to the location found a striped navy blue and white awning hanging down as they entered through two glass doors and were transported into a sleek Mediterranean coastal setting. A large olive tree stands in the middle of the shop. Soon, customers notice the arched outline of blue-and-white mosaic tiles guiding them towards the delicious flavors of frozen yogurt.

Go Greek Yogurt was founded by David Subotic, Tanja Subotic and Jonathan Williams. It has since spread globally, with locations in Saudi Arabia, Florida and now New York City marking its 20th outpost.

“I take this personally because I’m a New Yorker,” store owner Mitchell Moinian said. “My family lives in New York, my friends live in New York. I love this city…I can never do something to New York that doesn’t make New York better.”

The store offers three signature frozen yogurt flavors, including Plain Tart, Greek Honey and Chocolate, as well as three rotating flavors. Toppings include fresh fruits, granola, chocolate chips, chia seeds, roasted nuts and more.

Customers can also indulge in a range of smoothies, classic Greek yogurts with signature and rotating flavors, as well as sweet and savory Greek bowls. All products are made to be both “delicious and nutritious” as they are filled with protein and probiotics, while still remaining low in sugar.

“A healthy, wholesome and happy way of living is what the idea is,” Moinian said. “[Everything is] really high quality, everything is imported from overseas, it’s a really long-term holistic product that is good for everybody.”

Go Greek Yogurt follows the Greek “meraki” approach when developing its yogurts, which means creating with passion. The NoHo location is designed as a getaway from the hustle and bustle, as large white walls, old clay pottery and intricately-designed blue-and-white plates line the walls.

However, the thing that makes this location one-of-a-kind is the people, according to Moinian.

“The most important thing is the people that are going to be there,” Moinian said. “What’s more unique than a room full of New Yorkers?”
