Food Poisoning Outbreak At Thessaloniki Event Leads To Hospitalizations And Legal Action

In Thessaloniki, a group of business people became ill with food poisoning after attending a banquet at a renowned restaurant.

The incident occurred during the opening day of the International Thessaloniki Fair this past Saturday. The event, hosted by a bank, quickly turned into a food poisoning scare.

Local news site voria.gr reports that about 40 businesspeople attended the banquet at a popular restaurant in the city center. Soon after, many guests began to suffer from nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Several individuals were hospitalized, and preliminary suspicions point to the raw seafood served during the first course—crab and fish roe—as the likely culprit. Guests who did not eat the seafood did not exhibit any symptoms, supporting this theory.

In response, the bank is preparing to pursue legal action against those responsible for the incident.
