Brittany Howard and Michael Kiwanuka have joined forces for a coheadlining 2024 fall tour. The tour includes a stop at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, California on Friday, October 18 with special guest Yasmin Williams.
The upcoming tour is set to kick off on September 29 in Philadelphia, PA and concludes on October 19 in Paso Robles, CA. The 14-date North American tour will see both solo artists taking turns to close each show with Yasmin Williams as the opener. The co-headlining tour is set to make stops in cities such as Boston, New York, Vancouver, Seattle, and more. To top things off, $1 from every ticket sold will support The Ally Coalition, which provides aid to organizations dedicated to support housing and mental health resources for people of color, single mothers and unhoused LGBTQ youth.
“This tour is a dream come true,” Brittany Howard wrote in a statement. “I am so excited to be touring again with my dear friend Michael Kiwanuka and hitting so many amazing venues across the country in the fall. We started this journey at almost the same time in 2011 and it has been so amazing to follow his growth as an artist.” Kiwanuka added: “Seeing [Howard] shine as a solo artist is a delight so it’s a real honour for me to be able to share the stage with her. I can’t wait to see you America. It’s been so long and I’ve missed playing for you.”
With five Grammy wins and 16 nominations, Brittany Howard follows up her massively acclaimed solo debut Jaime with her second solo album What Now. Like Jaime, whose celebratory single “Stay High” earned a Grammy for Best Rock Song, What Now finds Howard once again taking the helm as producer and working closely with longtime collaborator engineer, co-producer and co-mixer Shawn Everett. The album emerged through a deliberately free-flowing process.
British singer-songwriter Michael Kiwanuka latest album was released in 2019 titled Kiwanuka. The record marked his third studio album and earned him his first Grammy nomination for the Best Rock Album. The upcoming coheadlining tour will be the first time Kiwanuka will perform in the states since 2020.
