ATHENS – Theatre of the NO presents a special 25th anniversary concert on Friday, May 8, 9:30 PM, featuring Makis Ablianitis in celebration of the landmark album ‘Bahar’, with the participation of Haig Yazdjian. The album received international acclaim, achieving triple platinum status and securing its place in renowned global compilations such as Buddha Bar. Its compositions have also been widely reinterpreted and covered by artists around the world.
‘Bahar’ brings together an outstanding group of internationally acclaimed musicians, including Indian bansuri master Hariprasad Chaurasia, Balkan multi-instrumentalist Dragan Dautovski (kaval, bagpipes), oud virtuoso Haig Yazdjian, and kanun player Petros Tambouris. The album also features a notable collaboration with the late Manolis Lidakis, whose distinctive voice elevates the songs ‘Astrο Kryfo’ and ‘Mi mou arnitheis’.
This anniversary performance offers a unique opportunity for audiences to rediscover the magic of ‘Bahar’ through live interpretations and contemporary musical expression.

About Makis Ablianitis
Makis Ablianitis is a leading figure of the Greek jazz and ethnic-jazz scene with an established international profile. His landmark album BAHAR (2001) achieved triple-platinum status and featured artists such as Hariprasad Chaurasia, Glen Velez, Dragan Dautovski, Haig Yazdjian, Petros Tabouris, and Manolis Lidakis.
He has also collaborated with Maria Farantouri on the album Mosaic as arranger and artistic producer. His discography includes Kismet, Uranos (featuring Pantelis Thalassinos and Vangelis Germanos), and Earthbounds – The Music of Makis Ablianitis Remixed. In January 2026, he released ‘No More Melodies’.
